Chemours is seeking a Production Operator to join our growing Operations team! This position will report directly to the Shift Production Supervisor at our Louisville Works Plant, located in Louisville, KY.

In the Production Operator role, individuals will be responsible for the safe and efficient 24-hour operation of chemical manufacturing process units, monitoring and maintaining equipment, problem solving and troubleshooting related problems, as well as record keeping. Additionally, individuals are responsible for performing sequence of complex and simple chemical operations required in the manufacturing process. Operations will also need to be proficient in bulk container loading, shipping, and receiving finished, raw, or intermediate materials. Chemical operators will operate a high hazard process with highly toxic materials.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Individuals in this position will safely utilize tools, equipment, and/or knowledge necessary to accomplish his/her assigned task
  • Individuals may be assigned to the Emergency Response Team (at the discretion of management) and will be part of their job duties based on Site needs.
  • Responsible for safety; product quality; meeting production goals; and equipment within their operating area
  • Individuals in this position will be actively involved as a member of the team he/she supports by participating in efforts such as:Setting and achieving team objectives, exploring new ideas, Interaction with other teams, suppliers, and customers, Training needs and Improving efficiency and quality.


    The following is required for this role:
    • Must be 18 years of age
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Valid driver's license
    • 3 Years experience working in a refinery/chemical plant or petrochemical, chemical manufacturing industry
    • Working knowledge of lock out tag out, confined spaces, and electrical safety
    • Must pass basic proficiency exam, physical abilities test, drug screen, background check, and physical
    • Demonstrated competency in teamwork, analysis and judgment, innovation, prioritization and embracing change
    • Ability to work day work or 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays; and ability to work overtime as required
    • Computer skills (Microsoft Office applications-Word, Excel, etc.)
    • Ability to maintain a respectful work environment
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to utilize proper protective equipment including, but not limited to, safety shoes, safety hats, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, acid suits, and self-contained breathing apparatus.
    • The position requires physical work, which includes working in multi-level operating building in addition to outdoor locations, both of which involve extreme temperatures
    • Must be able to work aloft with provided fall protection
    • Visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; reading; visual inspection; operation of machines (including inspections); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of parts
    • Must be able to work in a full chemical resistant suit with supplied breathing air
      The following is preferred for this role:
      • Associates degree
      • Relevant advanced degree or certification (e.g., Production Technology, Engineering Technology)
      • HAZMAT, Fire Brigade, and/or Emergency Responder training
